One of the many perks of being me is I have an amazing pool of private clients in a diverse sea of niches. As you may know, I recently finished an online challenge hosted through Facebook called Live in 5. It was a five-day challenge to help people feel comfortable “going live” and it was awesome!!!!

BIGGEST TAKEAWAY?

It takes some time to nurture a relationship with people and other than face-to-face, video is by far the best way to do it.

I realized that building your community isn’t a race, it’s truly is a slow and careful process. It’s the difference between walking into a bar and saying “You come here often?” and walking into a bar and buying everyone a drink.

It was the opposite of Bad Touch Marketing. It what I’m calling Kumbaya marketing.

Or better yet, turn it into a beautiful piece of origami and display it on your desk as a reminder of how you learned to live with your fear. I like to say it’s better to define your fear than let your fear define you.

I thought there was no way I would be taken seriously as a writer if I lacked a basic foundation…spelling. I secretly wished there was a creative writing job where it didn’t matter if I spelled words correctly (or really, followed all of Strunk and White’s style rules). I felt like a round peg in a square hole.
